An ambitious fundraising event

In 2010, Olympic Silver Medalist Tim Morehouse used his promotional savvy and contacts within the sport’s elite to put together a high profile gala fencing event in NYC November, 2010. The event came after the 2010 World Championships, offering some of Europe's top fencers a free vacation in New York in exchange for doing some promotional work and fencing in a "Pro-Am" event against some of the top US fencers.

Promoting sport to fund sport

Tim Morehouse and the team put together to promote this event did so to help fund Olympic dreams.  Athletes in "non-revenue" sports such as fencing work hard and spend tens of thousands of dollars on training and competition just to get a shot at Olympic glory.

These sports take a lot out of our young athletes as they put off a "real life" in pursuit of their dreams.

I got into fencing briefly. I was OK for a pure novice, but embarrassingly got a little unwound against lefties.

Very much loved trying different angles of attack to throw off an opponent..
